Prayers & Support for Dustin Nelson

On August 18, 2016, a son of the parish–Dustin Nelson–began the first step of his journey with the Congregation of the Holy Cross as a postulant.  Those wishing to express their support can send letters and cards to:

Dustin Nelson
P.O. Box 782Dustin Nelson
c/o Holy Cross College
Notre Dame, IN 46556

Here’s a short description of Dustin’s journey so far.  Our prayers are certainly with him as he continues to discern God’s will in his life.

Dustin Nelson is a native of Kokomo, Indiana, and a Taylor High School graduate. After formally entering the Church in 2011, he spent the next four years at Indiana University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history.  Although hearing God’s call long before he was even Catholic, it was in college where he started really entertaining the idea of a religious vocation.  After two years of discerning with other orders, going to discernment groups, and talking with various priests, he finally decided on the Congregation of Holy Cross. Dustin is interested in teaching and the possibility of serving others outside the U.S.

During his first year with the Congregation of Holy Cross, he will be a “Postulant”, and he will take classes, engage in ministry to the needy in the South Bend area, do house chores, pray, and learn what it means to live in a community with other brothers and priests.

Have you encountered this?

Anti-Religious Freedom Word CloudDoes anything in the box on the left sound familiar?  When living and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ we’re often met with resistance and even ridicule or hatred.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” – Matthew 5:11-12

e5 of Saint Patrick - Petition Request

The e5 Men of Saint Patrick will gladly include in their petitions specific petitions from women of the parish.

If a man wants to include a petition then he should register as an e5 Man and fast for that petition. In doing so all the e5 Men of Saint Patrick include his intentions in their monthly fast.

All these petitions are kept private.  For more information about the world-wide e5 ministry, check out their website:  http://www.e5men.org.
