Altar Servers
The assistance of the regular servers and the Gurardians of the Sacred Mysteries help the priest to celebrate the Sacred Liturgy smoothly and elegantly.
Regular altar servers include boys who have entered the 4th grade through high school. Regular servers are encouraged to participate in at least one training session per year. They can request preferred Mass times.
Men are also welcomed as altar servers. They usually serve at weekday Masses.
The Guardians of the Sacred Mysteries is a fraternity of high school age men who serve the Mass and special liturgical events. In addition, the Knights attend two yearly retreats in conjunction with the regional association, the Knights of the Holy Temple. They also gather for social activities and participate in special acts of service. There are also opportunities for leadership experience within the group.
For more information about serving please contact the parish office 765-452-6031 ext 100.
Readers
Readers assist the priest and faithful attending the Mass by reading the Scripture passages in a clear and effective manner. Youth and adult readers are welcome for both Sunday and weekday Masses. Readers are asked to attend one training session per year. Contact Jim Kinley [email protected] for more information.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) assist the priest in distributing the Most Precious Body and Blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, at Mass and to home bound parishioners. When assisting at Mass, you are asked to arrive 20 minutes before Mass. If you are scheduled for a Mass and cannot attend, you must find your own substitute. One can become an EMHC after receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. The diocesan bishop commissions EMHC on a yearly basis. EMHC's must attend a yearly training session which is offered throughout the year. For more information contact Deb Robinson [email protected] regarding becoming an EMHC.
Sacristans
Sacristans provide genuine liturgical functions by carefully arranging the liturgical books and sacred vessels for each Mass as well as ensuring all the necessary persons are in place prior to the start of Mass, e.g. the reader, musicians, servers, EMHCs. After Mass the sacristan returns all items to their proper place. Teens and adults are welcome to become sacristans and can request their preferred Sunday or weekday Mass. Generally they arrive one hour before Mass and complete their work 15-30 minutes after a Mass.
Art & Environment
The Art & Environment team ensures that the church is decorated in a manner that enhances prayer and worship. Assistance is needed for Christmas and Easter decoration as well as daily and weekly duties to enhance our worship space. Please contact the parish office 765-452-6031 ext 100, if you would like to assist.
Ministry of Hospitality (Greeters)
In the Gospel of Luke, 7:36-50, Jesus teaches us to be hospitable to one another and to our guests just as we would to Him. As an actively growing and vibrant community of Christ's faithful people, we want to take this opportunity to increase our parish hospitality! We wish to focus on how we greet and attend to the needs of all parishioners and guests!
The role of Greeter involves personally greeting parishioners and visitors at the doors of the parish building both before and after Mass or other parish functions.
For more information contact Sara Greene at [email protected].
Music
Liturgical musicians foster the active and conscious participation of the faithful through leading the congregation in prayer through hymns, psalms, and liturgical responses. Prospective volunteers are welcome to participate as cantors, as members of our parish choir, or as instrumentalists.
Adoration Chapel
We are extremely grateful to the many committed adorers from St. Patrick and St. Joan of Arc who make it possible for us to have a perpetual adoration chapel in Kokomo. We are in great need of adorers and have many hours open that need to be filled. If you would like to sign up for an hour please contact Barb Miller at 765-860-4402.
